Lithium-ion battery maker Microvast Holdings and EV platform supplier REE Automotive have signed a supply and purchase agreement. Under its terms, Microvast will provide its MV-C Gen 4 HpCO lithium-ion battery packs for REE’s EV platforms.

The packs can be fully charged in 30 minutes. Their pouch cells in the MV-C Gen 4 provide 53.5 Ah. The packs are expected to be certified to meet cross-regional battery standards such as ECE R100.3, GB 38031 and UL2580.

They will be matched with REE’s REEcorner technology, which incorporates vehicle drive components including steering, braking, suspension, powertrain and control in a single module.

One platform that will feature the MV-C Gen 4 is REE’s P7 truck. The P7 is said to be suitable for applications such as commercial deliveries, school buses and walk-in vans. REE says its scalable and modular architecture is suitable for any platform size from class 1 to 6.
